Pipes and pools

Side yard dug up for repairs
We tackled termite treatments and repairs to the sewer line last week, and thus moved into a hotel for a few days.  Turns out we had lead water pipes leading into the house from the street, but the city replaced them while we had the ground opened up.  The sewer line repairs took a little longer than expected.  A spaghetti mess of buried pipes and a super thick concrete sidewalk made the work pretty challenging.  The job has finally wrapped up and we're working on clearing out more of the debris in our yard.  We kissed the Astro Turf, doghouse, and dog bowl goodbye, and we're looking forward to getting some landscaping projects rolling soon.

Fun in the hotel pool
While this work was disruptive on the home front, it was fun to have a little stay-cation in town.  We stayed at the Hampton Inn and Suites by the convention center.  Kiran had a blast swimming in the pool and we enjoyed the hotel breakfast every morning.  We also took advantage of the big tv and DVD player in the room.  We watched "Lady and the Tramp" in two parts.  This was Kiran's first real movie, and he really had fun with it.   Priya was content sleeping in the pack and play and she really didn't seem to mind being away from home.

Lyons Pool
On Sunday we ventured out for a dip in the public pool on Louisiana Ave (Lyons pool).  It was totally free and very family friendly.  It seemed about 3 times bigger than the E-ville pool, and about half of the pool was only 3 ft deep.  This made it really easy to splash around with Kiran, and Priya even dipped her little legs in!  Kiran is gaining confidence in the water and he is learning how to kick.  They teach parent-child aquatics on weekdays, so I think we will start working that into our summer routine.
Bathing beauty in cousin Sutton's old suit!
In the midst of all this excitement, Priya had her 3 month checkup.  She had another round of shots and she handled them well.  She is inching her way up the growth charts, and is up to nearly 12lbs and 26inches!  Soon she'll be swimming away with her brother!

  1. Enjoyed yet another interesting blog from nola land. You kids are keeping busy. Pool time seems like a lot of fun! Pipe time seems kind of messy but it is always good to get ones pipes cleaned out once in a while...Priya can attest to that...I can too, Priya! Well, I wish I was as organized as your Mommy...I should be blogging about our renovation process...I have a feeling I will get a chance to do so soon....we are seeing a light at the end of the tunnel. Keep doing fun summer things till we see you in August...Aunt Ellen is thinking up some fun thing for you to do while you are here, Kiran!!
