Hurricane Isaac

Tropical Storm Isaac is predicted to turn into a Category 2 Hurricane and blow through New Orleans on Tuesday and Wednesday.   Bayou Baby has been snoring away and we have been scurrying around getting ready to leave town tomorrow.  The gas tank is full and our bags are packed.  The cooler is all ready to load in the morning.  We have blankets, towels, water, diapers, first aid kit, too many laptops, and important papers packed.  We moved all of our potted plants inside and "zip tied" the shutters closed on the house.   Our extra cars have been moved to higher ground.

Local high schools are already cancelled Monday - Wednesday.  Tulane and Loyola haven't cancelled things yet, but announcements will be made around noon on Monday.   This is the first week of school, so the storm will likely cause some chaos.  Its our first experience with New Orleans hurricane action and we're just hoping it will be mild!

We're planning to leave town on Monday morning, to head to the Mettu's in Dallas / Fort Worth.  We have been warned about traffic, so we're leaving early to avoid congestion.  Some of our neighbors are staying in place, but the threat of losing power for a week is not worth taking a chance on.  We're outta here!
