Kiran has been enjoying the Dog Days of summer in New Orleans. He is turning into a little gardener, insisting on filling up his watering can every time we are outside. He likes to water the curry plant and the lime trees. He has also been very helpful inside and he helps us keep the house tidy. He absolutely loves the vacuum and he drops lots of hints that we need to run it more often. We keep the vacuum in the closet under the stairs, and Kiran bangs on the closet door for us to take it out. He usually just knocks and yells, but sometimes he actually starts fussing and crying. Oh, alright, you can run the vacuum! We let him push the dust buster back and forth, and he really gets into it! He has watched me fold the rugs back and vacuum under the edges, and he actually sits and does this too! He has a couple favorite spots in the house he likes to vacuum. Luckily, he hasn't caught on to the connection between dropping food on the floor and the dust buster coming out of the closet. He has been so helpful with the dust buster this week that we have had to charge the battery every night! After he was doing his vacuuming for a while today, the dust buster started to slow down. I have some very funny videos of him at work. I haven't figured out how to get a video up on the blog, but would love some tips if you know how!
Daddy was away last week, and Mommy and Kiran survived the week! Kiran brought home 2 accident reports from school, both from tripping and falling. We think the older kids might be ganging up on the the new kid in the toddler room. He also came down with a fever and we found out he had an ear infection. He has almost finished his 10 day course of amoxicillin and he is doing much better. That pink stuff is right up there with green beans on Kiran's list of favorites. He happily gulps it down. The first time he had it, he swallowed his dose and then started pointing to the bottle for seconds! What a good little patient!
Kiran met a new friend last weekend and we are signing him up for regular "play dates" with her. Elia is a cute little blonde that we ran into at the coffee shop. She is 1 day older than Kiran and they hit it off instantly. The coffee shop is very kid friendly, with green toy dogs and a bucket of foam blocks. Elia and Kiran had lots of fun passing the blocks back and forth. On their second meeting, Elia and Kiran had some gelato together and ran around La Divina. Its so fun to watch Kiran socialize and we are happy that a new friendship is beginning!
