Our moving tour

After the movers packed up our stuff, we took a driving tour through New England and stopped to visit some of our favorite people and places.  We left Northampton on August 5, and headed up I-91 to Dartmouth.  We took Kiran for a tour of the college and he met some of the great people I used to work with there.  He had his diaper changed on the green and caught a glimpse of Baker Library.  We spent two nights in White River Junction at the Hotel Coolidge, the site of the spooky grad school Halloween parties.  We enjoyed a wonderful meal at Pane Salute, our favorite restaurant in Woodstock, VT.  This was the site of our first date and also a special stop here on our honeymoon tour last year.  Thanks to Troy and Shelley for that wonderful treat!   Kiran tagged along in his car seat and slept quietly with us for most of the meal.  While we were grabbing bagels the next morning, we bumped into a couple that was at Pane Salute the night before too.  They were so into Kiran and wanted to know all about him!  They could not believe how well behaved he was at dinner!  They said their new granddaughter was not so good.  An old Vermonter overheard our conversation, and said I should have 10 more kids since this one was so good.  We'll see about that!  Kiran always enjoys the attention, but his parents are still getting used to it all.

We also met up with Aaron, Isa, and James in New Hampshire and Kiran got to see some of the Hospital Days parade.  Isa could not get enough of Kiran, and she was happy to step in as our baby monitor, checking on Kiran as he slept in the next room.  "Cutie pie, cutie pie" she kept saying.  We made it up to Burlington, VT on Sunday and took the last ferry across Lake Champlain.  It was a beautiful trip across the lake and Kiran loved walking around the boat and looking at the water.  It was a little windy at times and we got a great picture of him turning his head into the wind and grinning from ear to ear.   We reached the NY side of the lake around 8pm and then headed on to our final destination, The Alpine Homestead.
