Canberra trip

We took the train to Canberra last week and spent 3 days exploring the capital.  The train was a relaxed way to travel and we saw kangaroos, cattle, horses, and sheep along the way.   We stayed at the beyond hip Hotel-Hotel, which led to many good jokes about going to sleep-sleep in our bed-bed.    It was a bit too cool for us there, and unfortunately there was no breakfast buffet with waffles (my favorite hotel perk).   We toured the Parliament House, hit a few museums (Questacon, National Museum of Australia, National Gallery) and had a nice dinner with Ram's cousin and her husband.  Our return trip was re-routed to the bus due to an unusual train strike.  Kiran spotted a huge rainbow as we pulled back into Sydney.  We arrived around 6pm and had to shuffle from the bus station to our new place in Redfern and then move all our luggage over.  Somehow we managed baths and dinner and the kids made it into their new beds.  We were pretty tuckered out.  This family has twin toddlers, which means lots of board books and a double stroller.  Kiran and Priya are still having fun discovering books in French, bristle blocks, and fox masks.   Redfern is about a 20 minute walk from our old place, so we have had some exploring to do in this new area.  We are closer to Rob and Sal now, but they have all been struggling with "gastro" so we have been keeping our distance.   Jenny swooped in from Melbourne on Friday and we had a nice leisurely lunch at Nomad.  We are squeezing in as much Sydney fun as we can now and we fly back to Dallas this Friday.
