Thanksgiving!

We had a great Thanksgiving here in New Orleans.  Grandma and Grandpa Mix and Uncle Troy and Aunt Shelley were in town.  Everyone stayed with us and it was so nice to have time to relax at home.  Kiran spent a lot of time practicing his crawling, reading books, and jumping in his bouncy seat.  Just to mix things up at the table, we had a vegan menu on Thanksgiving.  The adults had stuffed acorn squash, onion soup, and green beans and Kiran had yummy sweet potatoes.   On Friday, we went over to Uncle Scott and Aunt Heather's house for a shrimp boil.  Kiran had fun looking at all the shrimp and of course he tried to get his hands on them.  He was pretty content swinging on the porch swing with his Uncle Troy.

Another highlight of the weekend was Kiran's first haircut.   His little mohawk was getting unruly and at 7 months of age, it was time for the Indian haircutting ceremony.  We strapped Kiran into his booster seat and pondered which way to comb his hair for the trimming.  He is blessed with not one, but two cowlicks!  We took turns snipping Kiran's hair and he was pretty content as long as he could chew on his little comb.  We skyped with Nayannama, Tata, and Auntie Hima so they could be part of the haircutting festivities.

Grandma and Grandpa had a nice 10 day visit with us and Kiran had lots of special cuddle-time with them.  He played hooky from daycare and Grandma had him on a relaxed schedule while Mommy and Daddy went back to work.  Kiran had fun eating his meals with Grandma, she made him giggle and he gobbled up his fruit and veggies.  He had fun inspecting the doorbell mechanism with Grandpa and he loved how Grandpa would cheer "Yeah Kiran!" We were sad to see them leave but we're looking forward to visiting the homestead for Christmas.
